Dear President Trump, I don't think you should revoke reporter's White House passes. However, I think you should have the questions pre-programmed. Or rather pre-asked. Or pre-screened. Yeah, that's it. Pre-screened. That way, there are no surprises. It may be censorship, but at least it doesn't make you come off looking like a hostile, defensive child. Defending your decision to revoke a CNN reporter's White House press pass, you said you may take the same action against other reporters who have questioned his administration. "It could be others also," you told reporters at the White House. Now I know you said you pulled the pass of CNN's Jim Acosta because "he's a very unprofessional guy". You also singled out April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks as another potential target. "She's very nasty, and she shouldn't be," you said. Ryan, one of the relatively few African-American women on the beat, has frequently criticized your attempted crackdowns on the press. Responding to you on Twitter, Ryan said: "I love this country and have the most respect for the Office of the President. I will continue to ask the questions that affect America, all of America." AprilDRyan ✔ @AprilDRyan I love this country and have the most respect for the Office of the President. I will continue to ask the questions that affect America, all of America. 41.6K 7:21 AM - Nov 9, 2018 8,757 people are talking about this Acosta – who is in Paris covering your trip – tweeted: "My friend @AprilDRyan is an incredible journalist and a wonderful person. If you got to know April as I know her, you would love her too." The suspension of Acosta's press pass came after he and you had a tense exchange with Trump during a news conference Wednesday. I honestly, don't think he should've pushed the intern away when she tried to grab his mike. To me that was rude. Now if you suspend him on that account, then by all means- throw away the key and lock him up! Just on that basis alone. He could be violent. So that's evidence right there. News organizations condemned the move, calling it a threat to freedom of the press. "Such interactions, however uncomfortable they may appear to be, help define the strength of our national institutions," said a statement from the White House Correspondents Association. "We urge the White House to immediately reverse this weak and misguided action." Asked if the Acosta decision is permanent, you did say: "As far as I'm concerned, I haven't made that decision." I don't think you should reinstate his access privileges until he apologizes for his behavior toward you and the intern. As White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said, the decision was made because of the reporter "placing his hands" on a White House employee who was retrieving the microphone from him as he and Trump argued during the news conference. There is CLEAR evidence that this happened. I saw it with my own eyes. When we will learn that roaming hands never win. Keep it moving! Keep it! Keep it moving on! E.F.
